The charitable foundation has utilised its innovative
approach to youth development, sports development and
community support, enhancing the popularity of extreme
sports in today’s youth culture. Keen to keep its
roots firmly on the street the intentions are to allow
young people to develop at their own creative pace but
with a strong emphasis on direction and support.
The determination that’s characterised the Factory
since the word go has seen a whole host of facilities
and programmes put in place for everyone; from
community youth projects, extreme sports coaching and
training to IT suites/gaming centres and homework
clubs.
The Factory is now a prime venue on the circuit,
attracting high profile national competitions with big
names in the professional scene keen to participate.
Events include 6 competitions or ‘jams’ in 2007; two
per discipline, Skateboarding, BMX and In-line
Skating.
It’s not just a purpose built extreme sports and
community centre, the modern building boasts a range
of state-of-the-art conferencing and training
facilities with everything the local business and
community sector should require. That’s before even
mentioning Yoge’sh Restaurant and catering services,
which serves up a delicious selection of Indian and
western cuisine, from cooked breakfasts to buffets –
Indian style.
The Factory Skatepark has evolved from the underground
skate scene to a modern youth support centre
attracting national recognition with its roots firmly
placed in the extreme sports culture. The aim is to
continue the ethos in existence yet maintain an
innovative approach satisfying the growing interest in
extreme sports.
